SOMETIMES you just feel the gods are against you. I spent a lot of time thinking about a Super Single yesterday but ended up taking a “safe” double that was beaten by Juventus and Real Madrid.
I actually mentioned four potential singles – and three of them won … Robbie Keane to score for LA Galaxy against New York City, Celta Vigo to win at Levante and St Etienne at Lorient.
In the end I picked the wrong horse so to speak but I don't think anyone anticipated Juve losing at home for the first time in more than two years and Real being held by new boys Las Palmas.
I should have listened to Greg Browning who warned about backing teams playing their first or second games of the season. Wise words indeed.
All my bets were losers bar a double on Rangers and Man City - and even then I covered the draw at Everton late on.
It's been an exciting Premier League weekend unless you were at Old Trafford to let's hope for some exhilarating action from Arsenal v Liverpool on Monday night.
After the start the Gunners have made it's difficult to know what to expect though. A 2-0 home defeat by a West Ham side then cruelly exposed by Bournemouth was a shocker but Arsene Wenger's men hit back with a decent 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
Liverpool have been as dull as Man United with 1-0 wins at Stoke and home to Bournemouth and it would be good to see a more entertaining display at the Emirates.
I'll post a separate preview of the big game with some recommended bets.
Elsewhere on Monday we have Granada v Eibar who only survived in La Liga because of Elche's financial woes and there is a full Jupiler league card for those who like goals.
Ahead of a massive week of European football there are some games in Scandinavia and I'll research some in the morning before deciding whether to put up any tips.
