JORDAN’S good run continued with a winner in Switzerland last night and he’s again looking at the Champions League tonight.
He says: I’ve had this game pinned on my browser since it was drawn and some of you might remember me posting about it. A small club from Ireland will be playing the biggest game in their history and possibly this generation of Irish football.
I work with a couple of Irish lads who relocated from Cork only a couple of years ago and they are saying this is huge for Ireland not just Dundalk. Reports suggest 24,000 tickets have been sold for the game at the Aviva which is a fair amount considering Dundalk only has about a population 40,000.
They’ve done exceptional until now, in particularly against BATE with their incredible 3-0 win in Ireland, which is amazing considering they weren’t even playing on their own soil as it is not up to UEFA standards. Legia are tonight’s opponents and are reasonably favoured as they probably should be.
The Poles have been in this situation before and have a bit of Champions League experience behind them. Playing the likes of St Pat’s in 2014 where they won 5-0 and a trip to TNS in 2013 where they won 3-1.
As well as Dundalk played against BATE many chances were missed by the Belarus giants and Dundalk will do well to keep another clean sheet tonight when they have recently conceded two and three goals on their own pitch against the bottom two teams in the Irish league.
I do, however, think the occasion will be enough for Dundalk to get sniffs at goal and to take one into the away leg isn’t unreachable. I looked at Dundalk’s goal which was at 75mins until a few hours ago and it has now shortened to 73. That shows you where the money has gone in the market over the last few hours. At this stage of the knockouts, Dundalk’s David McMillan is joint top scorer and is 2-1 to net anytime with bet365. Can he be the hero again?
