AT least we’ve got through Wednesday and Thursday which were no-bet days for me and it’s always good to have those now and again.
Friday sees the resumption of leagues most of us are familiar with and for me the big game is Inverness v Hearts after I put up three Super Singles on the game on Monday.
They were Hearts to win, Hearts to score over 1.5 goals and Hearts draw no bet and I’m also advising Hearts -1 which is 17-4 at McBookie although I quoted it at 9-2 with William Hill in my Daily Record column.
Some people will baulk at the idea of four bets on the one team but I’m confident Hearts will win and if they don’t I have to accept I got it wrong and move on. I’ve posted a full Inverness v Hearts preview.
My normal maximum points risked to lose in one day is 10 but on Friday and Saturday it will be slightly more than that simply because I had no bets on Wednesday and Thursday.
As well as the Hearts game there is one English Championship match and Reading are well fancied to beat Ipswich after doing some good business on transfer-deadline day with Czech striker Matej Vydra on loan from Watford the pick of the bunch.
Reading are a best 5-4 with firms including Bet365, Ladbrokes and William Hill but with Ipswich having netted in their last nine away from home I’d prefer to take both teams to score at 10-11 with Coral and Ipswich are boosted by the return of striker Darryl Murphy.
Elsewhere Levante entertain Sevilla in La Liga with both sides having started the season slowly. Borussia Moenchengladbach are at home to Hamburg in the Bundesliga and while a home win looks likely all of both sides’ games this season have gone over 2.5 goals.
French champions PSG are at home to a Bordeaux side they have beaten in seven of the last eight meetings.
There are plenty of other games to look at including the old favourites in the French and Dutch lower leagues as well as Irish cup games including Dundalk v Sligo.
I’m taking both to score at Reading and Dundalk. Many people will blindly throw in league leaders Dundalk against a side siting second bottom but remember they drew 2-2 in the league last week and Sligo are an improving side.
With an eight-point lead at the top of the table I expect Dundalk to field a strong side for this televised quarter-final but they are without star man Stephen O’Donnell and Rovers can make it tough again. My least expectation for them is to score and for both to net Paddy Power go evens.
Complete a both to score treble with Stromsgodset v Haugesund and this tip is credited to MiniDuffman and Sean. MiniDuffman especially put up stats that suggest there will be goals so on a day where time is of the essence I’m happy to nick this one.
